  1. Nice Car Mount for Large Phones Review by Nice Car Mount for Large Phones

Finally a Phone mount that can hold my Nexus 6 perfectly. I've been using multiple car mounts for phones and none of them fitted my Nexus 6 but this one.

Going over the design of the car mount. It is made out of a plastic material and is made really nice and sturdy. On the main piece itself you will find foam pads that will protect your device from getting scratched when you have your phone on the mount. There is a big piece on the back and 2 on the gripping pieces. There are 2 Legs that can come out if you need to hold your device in Portrait mode. Those also have foam pads to protect your phone. When they are out, it makes you headphone jack accessible on Apple devices. For my Nexus 6, the headphones jack it located on the top. On the side car mount, you will find a button that you can press to release the 2 grips and expand it. Once it has been expanded all you need to do is place your phone into the mount and squeeze the grips together to get a nice firm grip on your phone to prevent it from sliding out. When you press the button it will release the grips nice and smoothly.

On the back of the CD Car Mount you will find the hole where you can connect the ball that mounts into the CD port of your car. You will be getting a 360 degrees swivel on the back so you can have it at any angle you wish. Mpow engineers designed the Mpow Grip 2 to offer firm, secure protection to safeguard your digital devices on the road. No extra force is necessary to remove your device from the Mpow Grip 2 cradle ¡§C- simply press the push-button release, and you're on your way.

Currently I have this mount in my car in the CD Slot and it works amazingly well. Perfect for everyone who needs a car mount! My CD Slot is broken so no need to use CDs any more.

Overall, this is a really nice Phone Mount for the car because if you have a large phone like the Nexus 6, you will be able to use it. This also works for smaller phones as well.

  2. A comparison of two CD car mounts Review by JWINK

This review is for the Mpow® Grip Pro 2 Universal Easy CD Slot Car Mount Holder Cradle.

Ironically, I received 2 different brands for review (this MPOW mount and Sabrent's version) of the CD phone cradle at nearly the same time which allowed me to compare the two different mounts in a four round matchup. (My review video will show the Mpow Mount first and then show the Sabrent Mount for comparison purposes.)

The first difference between the two is Sabrent's mount comes as one piece whereas the Mpow requires assembly of the two pieces. Assembly is not a big deal though, so I would call the first round even.

Both car mounts fit roughly the same size phone and can expand to accommodate up to 3.5 inch phone width. Mpow has a button which allows the wings of the mount to gently open and then you push into a locking position, whereas the Sabrent mount uses a spring loading mechanism that you have to spread apart yourself and then automatically snaps back into place. The Mpow holds better here than the Sabrent. Mpow also does a better job with cushioning here as the area where the back of the phone rests is cushioned along with the wings cradling the sides. Sabrent has some cushioning on the sides but really is minimal and no cushioning for the phone back (just plastic). The Mpow has fold out legs to hold the bottom of the phone to prevent slippage vertically. The Sabrent has nothing to hold the bottom of the phone. Both swivel but Mpow has a greater range of motion due to the larger ball bearing on the mechanism. Round 2 - Mpow takes the round.

Build wise and build quality of the frame of the mounts are roughly the same as both are sturdy and seem to be durable. The Mpow mount is lighter though and has a thinner less obtrusive looking cd mounting base. Round 3 - Nearly a draw and more of a matter of preference in looks.

Each brand takes a different design approach with the CD locking mechanisms of each device, with Mpow using a mount that slides into the CD mechanism and then screws into place until it is sturdy. The Sabrent uses a spring like locking button that snaps down into place. The Mpow held better in the CD slot than the Sabrent and has better ability to fit into a variety of sized slots because of its adjustability over the Sabrent. Round 4 - M-pow gets the round here.

Price wise, the Mpow cradle is 4 dollars cheaper than Sabrent's mount that scores a late knockdown in round 4.

The big issue with both devices is neither will fit all CD slots especially if you have a recessed slot as some cars do.

Overall, both are good quality mounts, but the Mpow is cheaper in price, has a better cradle holder, better cushioning, better locking mechanism and better range of motion than the Sabrent.

The Mpow gets 4 and a half stars and is the clear winner to me over the Sabrent.

  3. This car mount is the best mount I ever use!! Review by KFC

It fits in the cd slot perfectly and it will stay!!! I don’t like the way other car mount you need to stick it on the windshield, because my view would be obstructed by them, so I cannot see outside thoroughly and they are usually too far to be reached. Instead of being obstacle and hinder me from getting better view, this particular car mount sits perfectly on the center of the dashboard. It merely shake in little while on the go, and I can see my iPhone 5 without any problem. Because it sits right in the middle of the dashboard, it allows quick access to the phone and my wife and I have no problem touching the phone while driving. Rather than holding the phone while navigating the map, sometimes I also put my ipod in this car mount when playing music, so I can take a peek at what song it is playing and skip the song when needed.

Overall, it is wonderful car mount. I don't have any complain using it.

*Note, you need to press the button couple times to release the grips completely.
The maximum open area is roughly 3 ¼ inches wide, so for the smart phone with larger screen might be difficult to fit in.

  4. Solid mount, just make sure that the CD mount type holder is for you Review by Solid mount, just make sure that the CD mount type holder is for you

I'm perfectly candid in my review. My observations follow below in more or less chronological order.

Car phone mounts always have three basic points to be covered.

** How well does it connect to your car?
This one goes into your CD slot. Three prongs slide into the slot and then a screw can be turned to force the prongs apart. This will hold because those prongs will keep spreading as long as you turn the thumb screw. Just don't break your CD player.

** How well does it hold on to your phone?
This holder has four-point support with foam rubber padding. It's very grippy and isn't going to let your phone go anywhere. If anything the only free direction is UP and if your phone is trying to go UP... well, you've got other things to worry about. Release your phone by pressing the button on the bottom left. Maybe not optimal positioning but it'll work.

** How well do the two work together so you can see what's on your phone?
The two halves of this meet up at a ball and socket joint. You can get 56.1 degrees rotational freedom up and down and 61.9 degrees side to side. Not bad, but depending on your dashboard configuration you might end up with your phone facing you at a funny angle.

One thing to keep in mind is that unlike suction cup and vent mounts, this one is pretty much committed to exactly ONE spot in your car. If the angles don't quite work out for whatever reason you're stuck with it. As products of this type go, this one is pretty good. It will stay put. The question is whether you want it in that spot where it's stuck.

PS: I hope my review was helpful. If it was not, then please let me know what I left out that you’d want to know. I always aim to improve.

  5. Genius CD slot mounting! Sturdy holder Review by Chris Upton

I haven't used a phone mount in my car for quite a while. They always seemed to have too many small pieces that would fall off and get lost. Or...the suction cup would mount on the front windshield, usually too high, and obstruct some of your view. I had pretty much pushed these types of products aside.

Mpow sent me this CD Slot Car Mount and I was instantly intrigued. As I was unboxing it, I realized it solved both problems. There were 2 pieces that easily snapped together and the entire unit fit into my car's CD slot. I personally don't listen to CD's in my car, so this isn't a problem for me.

My video review shows all the pieces and how they fit together. I also carefully show you how to insert the mount in your CD slot.

Let's check out the PROS AND CONS.

    PROS:
-Quality built. The ball piece that snaps into the phone holder looks solidly constructed. None of the pieces are loose or look prone to falling off
-Perfect height in my car. My CD slot is at the exact level I'd want my phone when mounting. No obstruction. Be sure to check your CD slot height first
    -Grips tight with good cushioning
    -Vertical or Horizontal positioning
-Rotates easier than previous mounts I've had..but stays in place when you need it to

    CONS:
-You'll have to remove it to insert or eject a CD

***When you are tightening the knob after inserting it in the CD slot, it's not hard to over tighten. This isn't an exact science but you want to tighten just enough to hold it in place when you give it a light tug. Over tightening could crack your CD slot frame, but you should see or feel that happening before you get to that point.

This is a huge step up from the mounts I've used in the past. It's quick to set up and easy to rotate even if you are driving, which has always been a problem with other mounts. I have a Note 3 and it fits my huge phone just fine. I would think it would hold up to about a 6 inch screen.
